🌱 Open Position: EA Coach – Umoja Greenlands
Position Title: EA Coach
Circle: Effective Altruism Circle (Ethos Circle)
Location: Remote or based in East Africa
Type: Volunteer Position (with possible stipend depending on funding)
Purpose of the Role
To lead internal education and capacity-building around Effective Altruism (EA) within Umoja Greenlands, by facilitating training, mentorship, and ongoing learning that aligns with global EA principles and East African realities.
Key Responsibilities
Design and deliver educational sessions and workshops on EA concepts and frameworks
Facilitate reading groups, reflective discussions, and skill-building exercises
Provide 1-on-1 and small group coaching to team members across the organization
Curate and develop EA-aligned resources tailored to Umoja Greenlands’ work
Ensure internal alignment with EA best practices, including moral reasoning, cause prioritization, and evidence-based thinking
Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking a candidate who:
Has a strong foundational understanding of Effective Altruism
Can clearly explain concepts like cause prioritization, marginal utility, neglectedness, and longtermism
Has previous experience in teaching, facilitation, coaching, or community education
Is aligned with Umoja Greenlands’ values and orientations
Can tailor content to a diverse, non-academic audience in East Africa
Bonus if you have experience in ethical philosophy, strategic decision-making, or applied EA (e.g. global health, animal advocacy, forecasting, etc.)
