Nakyanzi Kezia

Chief Operating Officer (COO)
🌿 Plant-Based Advocate | Community Leader | Permaculture Educator

“Real change grows from the ground up—through seeds, through care, and through unity.”

Nakyanzi Kezia is a passionate changemaker and the Chief Operating Officer of Umoja Greenlands, where she oversees programs that promote sustainable living, food sovereignty, and ethical care for all life. Her leadership is rooted in a vision of a more just and compassionate world—where communities thrive through connection to the earth and to each other.

👩🏽‍🌾 From Youth Activism to Regenerative Agriculture

Kezia holds a Certificate in Computer Studies from Nserester Complex International School in Masaka. She began her journey as an activist with Action for Health Uganda (A4HU), a Germany-supported initiative that empowers youth through practical skills, confidence-building, and health education. This experience planted the seed for her lifelong commitment to food justice and community resilience.

🌾 Building Food Security Through Permaculture

As former Director of Permaculture at Umoja Greenlands, Kezia led efforts to combat hunger and malnutrition by distributing free seeds, garden tools, and sustainable farming knowledge to underserved communities. She empowered families to grow their own food, regenerate soil, and build resilience—turning scarcity into abundance, one garden at a time.

Her work centers around:

  • Community-led food production

  • Youth and women empowerment

  • Regenerative farming practices

  • Nutrition and food sovereignty

🥗 Kick Meat Off the Plates: A Plant-Based Campaign

Kezia is also the founder of Kick Meat Off the Plates, an educational campaign that promotes plant-based living as a pathway to health, sustainability, and compassion. Through this initiative, she teaches communities how to live well without harming animals, while growing nutrient-rich food using local resources.

Her advocacy not only reduces animal suffering but also contributes to climate mitigation, public health, and ethical food systems.

🐾 Compassion in Action: Animal Rescue Work

Kezia’s care for life extends beyond the farm. She actively rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes animals in need—especially abandoned or poisoned cats and dogs. In just six months, she saved and placed multiple stray animals in loving homes, and continues to provide follow-up support for their well-being.

🌍 Leadership at Umoja Greenlands

As COO, Kezia plays a central role in aligning operations with Umoja’s mission of unity, resilience, and sustainability. She manages key partnerships, oversees program delivery, and ensures that every project reflects the values of care—for people, animals, and the planet.

Her leadership blends strategic vision with grounded action, making her a vital force behind Umoja Greenlands’ growing impact across East Africa.
